Joey Eaker

How do I describe my Joseph?

With Joey, the clichés are true: he was the kind of person who lit up a room without even trying. Everyone who knew him loved him. He had the kindest heart, the sharpest wit, and a way of making even his doctors and pharmacists adore him.

He loved me so much and so well, always thinking of me in every little thing that he did. And he could make me belly laugh like no one else ever could. He was the best dog dad….always slipping our girls the last bite of his steak and proudly playing the part of the “fun parent.”

Joey had a thing for fast cars and the finer things in life (my bougie boy). He loved the latest tech, anything with a button or fader, and was constantly trying to trade in our cars for something faster or sleeker. I usually had no idea what he was talking about when he geeked out, but I loved watching his face light up when he did.

He loved his work: the music, the people, and the experiences on the road. But even more, he adored coming home. He was always on the first flight back, or trying to rebook himself on an earlier one if he could.

And while no one could ever forget his sarcasm or the way he could make you laugh until you cried, Joey will truly be remembered for his heart: the way he gave without hesitation, showed up without question, and made every single person feel truly seen.

In Remembrance

Listen, we all love flowers, but Bekah’s already got plenty of them, and we can all agree they weren’t exactly Joey’s thing. Instead, take that money and donate it to a cause close to your heart in Joey’s name.

Joey absolutely LOVED Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue and fostering pups. It brought him so much joy and brought his sweet Ivy home to him and Bekah. So, if you are looking for a place to donate we could not recommend them enough.

Ways to Help Bekah

Bring Bekah A Meal or Send A Gift Card

By providing a meal, you’re helping lift a small weight during an unimaginably heavy time. As Bekah enters this next chapter without Joey, let’s take the chance to surround her with that same steady love she showed Joey day in and day out.

Erase Joey’s Medical Debt

Joey Eaker gave his all to those he loved, often through unimaginable pain. Now, we have a chance to give back. By helping cover the remaining medical debt, we can honor Joey’s legacy and give Bekah the fresh start she deserves after years of unwavering love and care.

Ruff Days Relief Fund

Grief comes in waves—some days feel lighter, others hit a little harder. On those tougher days, you can show up for Bekah by sponsoring a day at doggy daycare for Joey’s beloved “dogters.” It’s a simple way to ensure they’re cared for, loved on, and keeping tails wagging—even when hearts feel heavy.

New to Joey & Bekah’s story?

Nine years ago, Joey and Bekah Eaker's lives changed in the blink of an eye. In the middle of the night, Joey, an audio professional in the music industry, was dropped off by his tour bus at a hospital in rural Louisiana, clutching his abdomen. A tiny gallstone was the cause of "the worst case of pancreatitis doctors have ever seen."

From there, Joey experienced an avalanche of medical complications that lasted almost a decade of his young life. Sepsis, PICC line placement that severed a nerve, infections, failed procedures, leaky pancreas, total gastrectomy, splenectomy, distal pancreatectomy, an ostomy bag, insomnia, and so much pain.

Despite it all, Joey remained the warm, thoughtful, generous, and witty man that Bekah fell in love with and that his friends adored.

Bekah, through every hospital stay, every ER visit, and every IV line, remained steadfast. While many caregivers understandably grow weary, Bekah's love for Joey only grew deeper. Laughing with him through the pain, finding ways to stay busy through hours of hospital stay boredom, and soaking in every sweet moment of sunshine and peace life offered them. Every day, not only carrying the mantle of a caregiver, but also a provider, wife, lover, and friend. Doing so with a quiet strength, grace, and joy that few possess.

(You can hear Joey and Bekah share their story in depth together in the player below)

On May 11, 2025, Joey's pain and fight came to an end. After years of bravely battling, his body finally said no more. Leaving those of us left behind thankful for every day he stayed, giving us the gift of his kindness, courage, and pension for mischief that we all loved so much.

While Joey is gone, Bekah and those who knew him best will continue his legacy.
